First Church is dedicated to living a Missional Church life.
Our Deacons lead us as we seek to reach out to others with the love of Jesus Christ, to love our neighbors as ourselves and to pass on that love through relationship, service and meeting the physical need of our brothers and sisters in the church, community and world.
The Board of Deacons focuses on God’s call to mission and service through three ministries:
- Hospitality
- Hands On Mission
- Mission Funding
Currently the Deacons run a very successful food pantry program and Saturday meal and clothes closet distribution.
We take time for prayer and discernment of how God is calling us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through worship, word and deed. During the course of the year, we support many local, national and global mission opportunities.
These include but are not limited to the Pontiac Easter Event, Transportation to worship services, Summer Camp kits, Back to School Bash (stocked backpacks and school supply distribution), Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Distribution, and Christmas gifts for children and youth.
